So Much for the Sugar Busting.....

oh, Halloween.....

One of my earliest memories is sitting in a wagon, wearing a bright yellow clown costume, face paint and pig tails holding my precious "poppel" gift bag filled with candy, and especially pink bubble gum twizzlers.

I did not dream this, it was my first Halloween and I was three.... my memory is vague, but it's there...and as far as I recall, it was awesome

For the past two years we've done the whole trick or treating thing, and tried to find a balance between the spook factor of the holiday and the dressing-up-in-homemade-creative-get-ups-and-eating-an-unbalanced-amount-of-candy factor.

I must say, we've had a pretty fantastic time.

There's alot of things about Halloween I am really NOT a big fan of, and I know many of my friends don't participate in the holiday all together, so I don't mean to open a can of worms or offend anyone;everyone's views on Halloween are deeply personal and I respect that,

but as far as good old fashioned fun, we had some. And as far as hordes of free candy and chocolate bars.... oh my, we had some of that too.
(A giant reusable shopping bag actually after only one neighborhood, it was ridiculous)

Here's how the Sugar Fest 2010 went down....

Al,(Hula Barbie),and myself (the Homemade Housewife) cleaning pumpkins for the seeds... oh the deliciousness of pumpkin seeds!

Angelina Ballerina, Winnie-the-Pooh (as a bumblebee), Chicken Little and a Butterfly Ballerina all ready to head out for CANDY (hunter-gatherer style)

There's those delicious pumpkin seeds

Dividing the spoils

Little Miss R, and Jackson, getting a crash course in sugar rushes... ( I love Jackson's concentration and R's half mast eyes)

Oh, Tootsie pops... where have you been all my life?

What can I say, I am no expert carver... but these will make some tasty muffins all winter...mwahahah

And now it's ON TO CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. I don't think Halloween really counts as real life, so it's ok to eat ridiculous amounts of sugar...I'm pretty sure on that one. ;)
Hope the kids' mouths are happy and blood free tonight!
