The Manifesto in Review

Well, for those paying close enough attention, my kitchen chalkboard holds a new list of resolutions and reminders to do some things that challenge and inspire me.
In the spirit of moving forward into the fall, it's only right to look back on the progress of how well, the manifesto was carried out over the bucolic months of summer 2010:

Be outside as much as possible:

Check

Eat outside as much as possible

Check

Take good care of my plants

This one takes a little explanation... I DID take good care of them, but that doesn't necessarily all lived, the way I had hoped. My shrubs and Cedars however, love me and are thriving, so ...
Check

Finish Craft Projects:

Not as many as I would've liked but Jackson's Baby book and scrapbook have to count and Ava and I whipped together some truly adorable kitten finger puppets on a whim,(which I can't find for the life of me) so...
Check

Learn one new Kitchen skill:
Well, it may not be a NEW skill exactly, but I perfected my bread recipe this summer, with whole wheat flour, all bran cereal and red river cereal and now it is heartily delicious (thank you Grandma, I made tomato quiche (which was a new variation on my old stand by) and my sister, brother in law and I watched a tea blossom bloom in boiling water ( I can't say it made great tea, but it was cool to watch)

Read LOTS of books...
Oh mercy, Check Check Check!!!!!
some of the fabulous titles have been
"The Happiness Project" by Gretchin Rubin, "Day after Night" by Anita Diamant "The Shunning" by Beverly Lewis, and my personal favorite, "Marley and Me" by John Grogan.

Read the New Testament...
Well, I didn't get through the whole thing, but I read FROM the New Testament, but not such an enthusiastic check there I'm afraid.

Bizarre circumstances, pouring rain, broken down vehicles, potty stops, mountains, beach, freezing nights and blazing hot afternoons, watermelon, marshmallows, hot dogs,and late night fires, great times that make me laugh now that their over....Check

Nap:

Check

and there you have it, a summer in review, it's been one of the best ever, really.
